Sicker - Fatter - Poorer

Endocrine disruption chemicals make us sicker, fatter and poorer - but we can do something about it. In this FRAM Seminar you meet Dr. Leonardo Trasande, an internationally renowned leader in environmental health.

Chemicals damage our health in irreparable ways. According to Dr. Trasande, 99% of us are affected by endocrine disruption chemicals and low levels of exposure matters. He also says that medical conditions like obesity, ADHD, diabetes, breast cancer and testicular cancer are all related to such chemicals.

Policy and regulation is important and he would like to see the European standards as a global norm.

Still, there are much you can do yourself as an individual to reduce how you, or your children, are exposed to chemicals. There are short, medium and long-term benefits. In this FRAM Seminar you get recommendations about several simple actions to take.

Prof. Leonardo Trasande is the Director of the Division of Environmental Pediatrics and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Pediatrics at NYU School of Medicine. He also serves on the faculty of the NYU Wagner School of Public Service and the NYU College of Global Public Health.

The seminar was held on 11 September 2019 at the University of Gothenburg.
